What we pour
New driveways and patios, foundations and slabs, stamped and decorative finishes, sidewalks, retaining walls, and repairs - formed, reinforced, and finished by local LA-area crews who build for this ground, not a catalog average.

New driveways and aprons, poured, reinforced, and finished to survive LA sun and daily use.

Backyard patios and outdoor-living slabs, broom, smooth, or decorative, formed to drain right.

Footings, stem walls, and slab-on-grade foundations engineered for LA's clay and seismic code.

Stamped, colored, and textured finishes that read like stone or pavers at a fraction of the upkeep.

Crack repair, lifting, resurfacing, and trip-hazard grinding before a small problem becomes a tear-out.

Engineered concrete and block retaining walls for LA's hillside lots, drained and rebar-tied.

Garage, shed, ADU, and equipment slabs, poured level and reinforced for the load.

Micro-toppings and overlays that resurface tired concrete without a full replacement.

Storefront flatwork, ADA ramps, loading areas, and site concrete for LA-area businesses.
Concrete is the same everywhere. The ground it sits on is not, and in Los Angeles the ground is the whole story. A driveway, patio, or foundation is only as good as the base under it and the reinforcement inside it, and the crews whose work you see cracking and lifting all over the city are the ones who poured a national-average slab onto LA-specific dirt. Three local realities decide whether a pour lasts twenty years or two.
The first is expansive clay soil. Much of the LA basin, the San Fernando Valley, and the inland flats sit on clay-heavy ground that swells when it takes on winter rain and shrinks through the long dry summer. That yearly rise and fall lifts and drops anything resting on it. A slab poured on a thin, poorly compacted base with no real joint plan has no way to absorb that movement, so it cracks - usually straight across the middle of a driveway or diagonally off a corner. The fix is not more concrete on top; it is the right compacted base thickness for the soil, proper steel, and control joints cut on a real grid so the slab cracks where we planned instead of where it embarrasses you.
The second is sun and cure. LA's dry heat is hard on fresh concrete in a way that surprises people. Concrete does not dry, it cures - a chemical reaction that needs water and time - and a slab whose surface flashes off too fast in the afternoon sun ends up weaker and prone to surface cracking and dusting. That is why our crews pour on a schedule built around conditions, keep slabs damp through the critical window, and do not rush a finish to make the next job. A driveway that was babied for its first week is a driveway that is still tight a decade later.
The third is slope and seismic. A huge share of the LA area is built on hillsides and cut-and-fill lots, and anything structural on a slope - a foundation, a retaining wall over four feet - is engineered, permitted, and inspected work, not a landscape decision. Retaining walls in particular fail when drainage behind them is skipped; the soil holds winter water, the pressure builds, and the wall blows out. We build them with the footing, rebar, weep holes, and gravel-and-fabric drainage the job actually requires.
Driveways are our most common pour, and the one people most often try to buy on price alone. A driveway takes daily vehicle weight and full sun, and the difference between a cheap one and a lasting one is entirely under the surface - base preparation, thickness, and steel. Where your driveway meets the street, the apron sits in the public right-of-way and needs a City permit, which we handle rather than leaving you to discover it later. See concrete driveways and, for the numbers, our LA driveway cost guide.
Patios and outdoor living are the slabs you actually use, so drainage and finish matter as much as strength. We set patios to fall away from the house, tie them into existing hardscape at the right elevation, and finish them broom, smooth, or stamped. A stamped and colored finish gives you the look of stone or pavers as one solid slab - no shifting units, no weeds in the joints - which in LA's dry climate holds its sealed color for years. See concrete patios.
Foundations and slabs are where the soil rules everything, and where the permit and the engineering are not red tape but the actual product you are buying. A foundation built to a real soils report and inspected at the steel stage is a foundation that rides the seasons and the next quake as one piece. This is licensed work and we treat it that way - see foundations and slabs and flatwork for ADU pads, garage floors, and equipment bases.
Repair and resurfacing is the honest half of this business. Not every cracked slab needs to come out, and we would rather grind a trip hazard, seal a crack, slab-lift a settled section, or overlay a tired but sound surface than sell you a tear-out you do not need. When a slab genuinely is past repair - heaved over clay, undermined by a root, pooling water at your foundation - we will tell you that too. See concrete repair and resurfacing.
Concrete work in Los Angeles crosses more permit lines than people expect. A new driveway apron in the public right-of-way, a retaining wall holding back more than four feet of soil, and a new foundation or structural slab all generally require permits - through LADBS and, for work in the street, the City's engineering bureau, with the surrounding cities each running their own building departments. Unpermitted concrete is not a saved fee; it is an unpermitted structure that surfaces the day you sell, refinance, or file an insurance claim, and it can mean tearing out finished work. We pull the permits the job needs and build to the inspection, so what you own is documented and clean.
Every job starts with a site visit and a firm written bid for the real scope - we look at the access, the grade, and the soil before we quote, because a number given over the phone in this city is a number that changes the moment someone sees your yard. The bid is what you pay unless you change the scope; a change order means you asked for something different, never a surprise at the end. We are licensed and insured, we build to LA's soil and seismic reality rather than a catalog average, and if a slab we poured fails from our workmanship inside the warranty, we tear it out and re-pour it. That is the difference between hiring a concrete contractor and renting a mixer.
Our core area is the City of Los Angeles - from Downtown and the Eastside neighborhoods of Silver Lake, Echo Park, and Highland Park out through the Westside and the San Fernando Valley - along with Santa Monica and the coast, Pasadena and the San Gabriel foothills, Glendale and Burbank, Long Beach, and Torrance and the South Bay. If you are in one of the communities bordering those, ask - grouping work in the same area on the same week is usually what makes it easy to say yes to.

How we bid
You get a firm written bid for the scope once we have seen the site and the soil. Change orders only happen if you change the scope - never as a surprise on the final invoice.
We size the base, the rebar, and the control joints for LA's expansive clay, hillside cut-and-fill, and seismic code - not a one-size national spec that cracks in two summers.
If a slab we poured fails from our workmanship inside the warranty, we tear it out and re-pour it. That is the whole point of hiring a licensed crew instead of a day-labor pour.
